SPACE QUEEN

Step Into the Frustavers

SPACE QUEEN is the first instalment of original work written by Aaron Nickol (aka Shelita Cox). In it's development throughout 2025 as part of a partnership program between Victoria's Fringe Festival and Intrepid Theatre Society's Indigenous Artist Program. Showings of a work-in-progress was presented in Victoria's Fringe Festival (2025) on August 23rd at 7:00pm and August 30th at 3:00pm at the Intrepid Theatre Studio which was an overwhelming success as both script-readings sold-out, and SPACE QUEEN was chosen as runner-up for best Musical in the Pick of the Fringe awards.

Fully produced and performed shows will premiere at Victoria's Fringe Festival in 2026.

Space Queen is a one-person sci-fi drag musical created and performed by queer artist Aaron Nickol (aka Shelita Cox) and produced by Drag Sunday Productions. Blending original synth music by Jarrett Jacklin with melodies and demo vocals by Daniel Hatenboer.

The show imagines a distant future where queer existence has been erased...

With the underground queer movement gaining momentum...

Through live vocals, narrative world-building, and embodied resistance, Space Queen explores queer survival, ancestral memory, chosen family, and the radical power of claiming space.

Ideal for audiences drawn to queer theatre, drag artistry, futurist performance, and LGBTQ+ storytelling, this is a musical about what it means to remember, and what happens when the erased return to speak.

Thirsty for More?

SPACE QUEEN is just the beginning; an original work by Aaron Nickol that opens the door to a much larger universe.

The world of Space Queen is part of the ever-expanding Frustavers, a vast mosaic of past, present, and future stories that bring its lore, characters, and history to life.
